Apple's
new 9.7-inch iPad is indeed an iPad Pro, adopting many of the same features as its larger sibling including an A9X chip, Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard support, and four speakers. But it even improves upon the 12.9-inch model in several areas, such as a better 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Focus Pixels, and 4K video recording. The 5-megapixel front camera with Retina Flash is also an upgrade, as is the display, which features a wider color gamut and True Tone color that adjusts the display temperature to match the external environment.
Pre-orders for the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro begin on March 24, with availability coming a week later on March 31. The new iPad Pro will be available in Silver, Space Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold. Pricing starts at $599 for 32 GB Wi-Fi models and goes up to $749 for 128 GB and $899 for a new 256 GB tier that has also been added to the larger iPad Pro. Cellular models cost $130 more than their Wi-Fi counterparts.
