Amid rumors of new Mac notebooks and iPads at next Monday's WWDC keynote, Apple has registered several new devices in regulatory filings with the Eurasian Economic Commission. Five Mac models, four iPad models, and a new wireless keyboard are included in the filings, but it is unclear exactly which product lines they refer to.

Delivery estimates for 15-inch MacBook Pro models slipped to June 5–8 last weekend, perhaps in a sign of Apple delaying orders until the new models are introduced on Monday. In addition to updated MacBook Pros, we're also expecting updated MacBook models and perhaps even a minor bump to the MacBook Air to prolong that line's life. New iPads should include the rumored 10.5-inch iPad Pro and a likely update to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Visual Studio for Mac: Build apps, games, and services for mobile, web, and cloud with an IDE designed for the Mac
default.jpg

Last month, Microsoft announced the release of Visual Studio for Mac: a full-featured development environment to help developers on macOS create apps, games, and services for mobile, cloud, and web. It’s natively designed for the Mac, so both the design and the developer workflow should feel right at home to Mac users.

For mobile app development, Visual Studio for Mac provides full app development support for iOS, Android, and macOS with Xamarin. This enables developers to use C# to develop apps across these platforms. Apps using Xamarin always render native controls and run at native speed.

Visual Studio for Mac also includes support for .NET Core app and ASP.NET Core back-end development. The editor supports full HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for your web app’s front-end, and apps using ASP.NET Core can be published directly to Microsoft Azure.

Additionally, Visual Studio for Mac includes the ability to build games using Unity. You can directly edit your Unity scripts with the same world-class C# editing experience, including full syntax highlighting and IntelliSense.

'iPhone 8' Renders Offer Direct Size Comparisons With iPhone 7 and Galaxy S8
default.jpg In the absence of part leaks, we're continuing to see renderings based on rumored design specs for the upcoming "iPhone 8," and a new batch offers some nice size comparisons to both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, as well as Samsung's latest Galaxy S8 family.

Uncertainty still remains as to whether Touch ID functionality will be built into the display or perhaps moved to a dedicated sensor on the rear of the device, but the latest rumor from chip supplier TSMC says Apple has indeed succeeded in embedding fingerprint sensing right into the display.

Finally, Apple is said to be working on a dedicated "neural engine" chip to power AI-related tasks like speech and facial recognition for improved performance and lower impact on battery life. It's unclear whether this chip will be ready in time for the iPhone 8, so we'll have to wait to see how that plays out.

The speaker is expected to include virtual surround sound technology and serve as a hub for HomeKit functionality, but will apparently not include a full display.

One next-generation family, Coffee Lake, is reportedly up to 30 percent faster than the equivalent Kaby Lake chips, but we'll have to wait until later in the year for more detail on the new chips and likely until the end of this year or early next year before they start making their way into Macs.
