HomePod First Listen Impressions: 'Incredible' Audio With Bass-Heavy Sound That Easily Beats Echo
default.jpg Apple's $350 HomePod speaker doesn't launch until December, but following its debut at WWDC, Apple gave a few members of the press a chance to spend time listening to it in a quieter setting. With an upward-firing woofer and seven tweeters around the base of the HomePod, reviewers noted consistent sound throughout the room with "incredible" sound quality and rich, deep bass. iMac and MacBook Early Reviews: Iterative Updates With Welcome Performance Boosts
default.jpg Following their introductions on Monday, Apple handed out review units of both the updated iMac and MacBook models to select member of the press. The early reviews of these units point to largely iterative updates with some nice improvements such as the inclusion of the second-generation butterfly keys on the MacBook's keyboard and the faster iMac internals and improved display making for a better and smoother user experience.

2017 MacBook Pro is Up to 20% Faster Than Last Year's Model in Benchmarks
default.jpg Apple's redesigned MacBook Pro came out just eight months ago, but on Monday Apple upgraded it to Intel's Kaby Lake family of processors, and between faster speeds and other performance tweaks, benchmarks are showing performance improvements of up to 20%. Real-world improvements will likely be smaller, but still, it's a nice upgrade and a welcome change to see Apple accelerating its adoption of Intel's processors as they are released.

Apple to Phase Out 32-Bit Mac Apps Starting in January 2018
default.jpg iOS 11 will see Apple drop support for older 32-bit apps on its mobile platform this fall, but the same change is also coming to the Mac next year, as macOS High Sierra will be the last version of macOS to support 32-bit Mac apps. Beginning in January 2018, all new apps submitted to the Mac App Store will have to be 64-bit, and by June 2018 all submitted updates for existing apps will also have to be 64-bit.

Watch the Season Premiere of Apple's New 'Planet of the Apps' Series
default.jpgApple is continuing its push into video content, this week launching its "Planet of the Apps" show on Apple Music, with the premiere episode also available on the web for a limited time. The show sees app developers pitching their ideas to Gary Vaynerchuk, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, and will.i.am. for a chance to receive mentoring and the possibility of up to $10 million in funding at the conclusion of the season.
