iOS 9.2.1 and OS X 10.11.3, iPhone 6s Battery Display Issue, WWDC Dates - MacRumors

Apple this week released iOS 9.2.1 and OS X 10.11.3 to the public, both of which have been in developer and public beta testing since before the holidays. Neither one brings any major new features, although there are some important bug fixes and security improvements included, so users should be sure to update their devices.

Much more substantial updates in the form of iOS 9.3 and OS X 10.11.4, as well as watchOS 2.2 and tvOS 9.2, remain in beta since their debut for developers and public beta testers last week, with official launches planned for the "spring" timeframe.

Apple Studying Issue With iPhone 6s & 6s Plus Not Updating Battery Percentage
Apple last week posted a new support document acknowledging it is investigating an issue with iPhone 6s and 6s Plus devices failing to update the battery life displayed in the status bar.

No exact diagnosis or solution has been determined, but it appears to be related to time zone issues, as Apple recommends users experiencing the problem restart their devices and ensure the time is being set automatically from Apple's servers. Many of those experiencing the problem since the launch of the new phones last September have been manually adjusting their system times, frequently in attempting to bypass timer-based barriers in certain games.

Apple's 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference Will Likely Take Place June 13 to 17
Apple likely won't make an official announcement about this year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) for a few more months, but it's looking like it's going to be held the week of June 13–17 in San Francisco. That guess is based on the public schedule for the Moscone West convention center where the conference has been held for a number of years, with most of the rest of the month of June being booked up for other events.

WWDC will undoubtedly see the unveiling of iOS 10 and OS X 10.12, and perhaps some hardware announcements and other news.

Those hoping to attend WWDC might want to start thinking about travel plans if they're looking for the best prices, but with Apple using a lottery system for distributing tickets in recent years, there are no guarantees of getting a seat.

Major Apple Watch 2 Upgrade Not Likely to See March Debut

Amid rumors of a March Apple event to show off an updated Apple Watch, TechCrunch last week claimed a debut for "Apple Watch 2.0" is unlikely to take place so soon. The report was later updated to note it's possible there could be a minor update to add a FaceTime camera to the Apple Watch at this event, but a full upgrade of the casing and internals is still a ways off.

In other Apple Watch news, Apple is preparing to begin online sales of its Apple Watch Hermès collection this Friday. Introduced at last September's media event and staring at $1099, the special Apple Watch collection has until now only been available in a select few Apple and Hermès retail stores.

Likely False 13-Inch Skylake MacBook Pro Showing Up in Benchmarks
Finally, as evidence of the pent-up demand for updates to Apple's Mac notebook lineup, one of our most popular stories last week was about likely fake benchmark results from what was apparently purported to be a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro running on an unreleased Skylake processor from Intel. Unfortunately, there are several aspects of these results that don't add up, suggesting they have indeed been faked.

That means we're still waiting for signs of new notebooks, which could start appearing relatively shortly considering Skylake chips have been announced for release early in 2016.
