It didn't get the "iWatch" name, but Apple's smart watch was indeed unveiled at yesterday's media event. Dubbed the
Apple Watch or Watch, the device will launch in early 2015 starting at $349. Available in two different sizes, three different collections, and various casing and band combinations, there will be a multitude of options for customers. Leveraging touch, voice, and a "Digital Crown" for input, the Apple Watch includes a variety of timekeeping, fitness tracking, communications, and app-based functions.
Hands-on impressions of the Watch have praised the look, feel, and technology, although there some feel there is still work to be done on the software side before launch. Apple has also yet to disclose the full range of spec and pricing options or battery life, although it appears the company expects users to charge it
once a day. Among various
tidbits revealed in follow-ups are details on water-resistance, making calls through the Watch, and
left-handed support.
