Apple this week seeded the first
developer and
public beta versions of iOS 10.1, which notably
includes the "Portrait" mode for iPhone 7 Plus that was shown off at the device's introduction earlier this month but which didn't make it into the shipping product. Portrait mode uses the power of the dual lens camera to introduce bokeh to photos of people or objects, giving a sense of depth by blurring the background of the image.
We went hands-on with the new feature, and while it still needs a bit of work, it's shaping up to be a nice addition to the iPhone's camera capabilities.
In addition to iOS 10.1, Apple has also seeded the
first developer and public beta versions of macOS 10.12.1, the first maintenance update to Sierra. This will likely be primarily a bug fix update, although it may also be laying the groundwork for updated Macs expected before the end of the year.
